Available Positions For the 2025-2026 School Year

High School History Teacher (Full-Time)

Job Summary:
Our K-12 independent school is seeking a passionate and dedicated Full-Time High School History Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. This position offers the opportunity to teach all four grade levels of high school history, as well as 1-2 elective courses to be determined with the hired candidate. The ideal candidate will be committed to creating an inclusive learning environment and adapting instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with ADHD and language-based learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and CAPD.

The position requires an ability to teach a variety of history courses, including U.S. History I & II, Civics, World History, and two elective courses. In addition to core history courses, the teacher will collaborate with colleagues to provide individualized support and foster the development of students’ critical thinking, organization, and study skills.

Reports to: Head of School, Assistant Head of School, and High School Division Leader

Position Type: 10-Month, Full-Time (August-May)

Compensation/Benefits: Compensation based on experience/credentials. This position qualifies for health benefits (80% covered by school), optional vision/dental, optional 403b participation, $10,000 employee life insurance (with optional additional coverage), and additional "employee perks" which can be discussed. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction in U.S. History (I & II), Civics, and World History, ensuring content is accessible to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Develop and teach 1-2 elective courses based on expertise and interest, in consultation with the administration.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including project-based learning, scaffolding, and visual aids, to support students with ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and other learning differences.
  • Create a classroom environment that is supportive, inclusive, and respectful of all learners.
  • Monitor and document student progress and provide individualized support through one-on-one or small group instruction, as needed.
  • Collaborate with special education staff, support teachers, and parents to ensure student success.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in teaching students with learning differences.
  • Foster a growth mindset and encourage students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with students, parents, and school leadership.
  • Participate in school-wide meetings, events, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, History, or a related field.
  • Current NC teaching license (or reciprocal; license-eligible for renewal also considered).
  • Master’s degree and experience working with students with learning differences (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of high school history curriculum (U.S. History, Civics, World History).
  • Experience in differentiated instruction and/or working with students with ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, CAPD, or other learning differences (preferred).
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students.

Substitute Teachers

The Piedmont School is currently looking to add experienced substitues to our sub list. We are looking for those with flexibility in their schedule and with previous substitute teaching experience.

We are looking to add substitues for the school year. 

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or higher. 
  • Experience substitute teaching.
  • A positive attitude and energy for working with children.
  • All substitutes must complete/pass a background check and drug screening.

Pay Rate: 

The Piedmont School pays $15/hour for substitutes.
