JYA Core Foundations Teacher
Leah Franklin is a teacher at The Piedmont School/ John Yowell Academy, where she has been an integral part of developing and instructing the foundation courses for the high school core curriculum since 2023. Leah is a compassionate and responsive educator, who is invested in empowering students to believe that they can learn and be successful. With a passion for tailoring education to the individual, she is dedicated to an interactive, hands-on approach that nurtures and fosters a love for learning.
Leah Franklin holds a BA in Education from the University of Rhode Island and has 5 years of experience in education. She has also earned a certificate in TESOL, (teachers of English to students of other languages) which she draws on to develop engaging instruction that is inclusive and attainable to the diverse group of students she works with.
Leah is involved in her church and sings in the choir. She and her husband love to go back-packing have traveled to both Iceland and Norway and hiked on incredibly diverse landscapes.
Leah is committed to creating a positive learning environment, where students feel safe making mistakes and then learn from them. She believes collaboration with colleagues is at the heart of creating a learning experience where students feel supported to create goals and take the next steps to achieve them.
