Congdon Family Foundation Makes Generous Donation To Tuition Assistance Fund

The Piedmont School & John Yowell Academy are pleased to announce a major contribution from The Earl & Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation, totaling $1,500,000.00 over the next five years, beginning with a $250,000 gift to the 2021-2022 Tuition Assistance Fund.

The Piedmont School has been an important High Point educational option since 1982. It has been dedicated to providing robust and individualized education to students with attention deficit disorders and/or language-based learning differences such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. Located in north High Point, the school serves students from five counties. For most of its existence, the school primarily served elementary and middle grades. In 2013, the school started its high school program and it has grown exponentially each year. The John Yowell Academy at The Piedmont School offers small class sizes for grades 9-12, individualized instruction, and the same wonderful strategies and opportunities that the K-8 program offers.

One challenge that The Piedmont School has always faced is helping families navigate the tuition with limited tuition assistance funding. This most generous gift from the Congdon Family Foundation will help alleviate the burden for families and it will allow the school the ability to provide need-based tuition assistance to current and prospective students.

Tim Montgomery has been the Head of School at The Piedmont School & John Yowell Academy for 8 years and has seen the need for expanded tuition assistance funding first-hand. Mr. Montgomery offered his gratitude on behalf of the school community:

"My personal heartfelt thank you goes out to the entire Board of Directors with the Earl & Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation for this amazing gift. This is a dream come true for not only The Piedmont School & John Yowell Academy, but for each individual family that we will now be able to support financially. Through this generosity, the Foundation is allowing us the opportunity to change the lives of so many students and their families. The positive impact of your kindness will be felt throughout our community for years to come".
