Kori Mackall Rejoins As Head of School

KMHeadshot.jpgDear TPS Community,

It is with great pleasure that we announce that the Board of Trustees has voted in favor of appointing Mrs. Kori Mackall as Head of School beginning with the 2023-2024 school year. We are excited to welcome Kori back to The Piedmont School. We are confident that Kori brings the knowledge, expertise, commitment, and enthusiasm that will ensure that The Piedmont School will continue to offer our students an exemplary education tailored to their individual needs as we grow and expand.

Kori Mackall is an accomplished educator, leader and lifelong learner, bringing over 17 years of experience to The Piedmont School. Kori received her B.A. in Liberal Arts with a Minor in Language and Literacy Disorders from California State University, her M.A. in Education, Special Education from University of Nebraska, and her Post Graduate Certification in Non-Profit Management from Duke University. At The Piedmont School she served as a Teacher, Director of Technology, Director of Communications, Marketing and Development, Assistant Head of School, and most recently has been an Executive Assistant at the Volvo Group North America Headquarters. She has a history with and extensive knowledge of TPS & JYA and is dedicated to the school’s mission and seeing the school succeed in its mission to be the educational oasis for those who learn differently.

I would like to extend my gratitude to TPS Executive Board and the Head of School search committee. This group of teachers, parents, and board members spent time reading resumes, holding virtual meetings, and conducting interviews. I am appreciative of their commitment to The Piedmont School and their facilitation of a process that yielded such wonderful results.

In the weeks ahead, Kori will have the opportunity to work with the Interim Head of School, George Boschini to ensure a smooth transition of leadership for students, faculty, and parents. We know Kori is excited to rejoin our community and begin to work with us. We will keep you informed of upcoming opportunities to meet her in the months ahead.

Please join me as we extend a warm Panther welcome to Kori back into our family.

Sincerely,

Stan Gordon

From Our New Head of School

Dear Panther Families,

Hello again! Words simply cannot express my excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to return to The Piedmont School & John Yowell Academy as your Head of School. This is not an opportunity I take lightly and I am thankful to the Board of Trustees and Search Committee for their faith in me and their support.

For more than a decade The Piedmont School has been an important part of not only my career but my life. I have watched countless students and their families come through these doors to find an educational environment that benefits them. I have been grateful every day for the opportunity to be a part of so many of these journeys in one way or another. While a professional opportunity presented itself to me in the winter of 2022 that I accepted to explore more of the corporate world, I have longed for the passion and impact that TPS & JYA provides since I left. While my time away has brought me an immense amount of new knowledge, insights, travel, and global perspectives- I know that my true home is and always has been The Piedmont School

To the students and  families I have known so well, I look forward to reconnecting and to being a continued part of your journey at TPS & JYA. You are the reason we do what we do and you motivate me daily.

To our new Panther families, WELCOME! I am excited to meet all of you and to help your child’s transition to TPS/JYA. This is a magical and nurturing place with the best of the best faculty and administrators who are all thankful to be on your team. Once I am fully on campus, I will reach out to each of you in the coming weeks to set up a time we can get to know one another.

To the faculty and administrative team, words cannot express my deepest appreciation for all of you. You are truly the glue and I look forward to supporting you all and making this an amazing school year. You have made a great impact on me and I hope to do the same for you from this role. To Mr. George Boschini, what an immense gift you have been to The Piedmont School & John Yowell Academy. I look forward to working with you during the transition to come.

In just a few weeks, you will hear from me via our newsletters and you’ll see me on campus. It is my plan to host a floating gathering for parents and I to mingle sometime early this fall. Please be on the lookout for that information to come.

In the meantime, should you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to me by email kmackall@thepiedmontschool.com

With Panther Pride,

Kori Mackall, M.Ed
